HEWETT HAND MADE ACOUSTICS TEXAS BUILT ![]() James Hewett, a native Texan, began building acoustic guitars in 1993. He is a self - taught Luthier who naturally gravitated to the craft through his love for great acoustic instruments and his gift for working with his hands. Today, he works full-time building steel string acoustic guitars, acoustic archtop jazz guitars, classical guitars and Dyer style Harp Guitars -- many with intricate and detailed inlays. In addition, he builds re-creations of Baroque and Renaissance instruments like organistrums, symphonies, and lyres ~ and does full-scale repairs, restorations and custom inlay work for six guitar stores in the Houston, Texas area.
